1794: Owner of ‘Pride of Heart’ smuggling Lugger. Disappears abroad to escape from the law after the shooting of a revenue officer.

?: Meets Ralph Colliver, falls in love with his wife, and joins him in piracy. Arrives in Ceylon.

1805 April: Trenoweth and Colliver discover the ‘Great Ruby of Ceylon’ in the possession of a Buddhist priest at a temple below Adam’s Peak in Ceylon. Trenoweth murders Colliver in front of his pregnant wife and the priest, thus gaining sole possession of the treasure.

May 4: Deposits letter ‘To the son of my house’ and envelope containing £50 with Elihu Sanderson of the East India Company at Bombay, explaining the location of the ‘Great Ruby’ and associated treasure: Adam’s Peak – Dead Man’s Rock.

Returns secretly to Lantrig and buries treasure below Dead Man’s Rock.

1814: Amos returns to Lantrig.
