1841: Born to Ezekiel and Margery Trenoweth of Lantrig.

1845: Father’s business affairs deteriorate.

Learns to read and write.

1848, February 3: Ezekiel Trenoweth leaves Lantrig for Bombay.

Jasper reads Bunyan.

July/August: Receives a letter from Ezekiel at Bombay dated 23/5/48.

Sends a reply to Colombo.

1849, August: (19 months after departure of Ezekiel) writes to inform of imminent departure from Colombo aboard the ‘Belle Fortune’, with October-November as the arrival date.

October 11: Storm at Lantrig.

October 12: Mother’s premonition of disaster.

Jasper 7 years old.

7-8 am: Jasper goes from Lantrig to Ready Money Cove and Dead Man’s Rock.

Meets John Railton on Polkimbra Sands.

Railton gives Jasper a packet (Ezekiel’s) and a letter.

Colliver knifes Railton on Dead Man’s Rock but Jasper is saved by Dr Loveday.

Taken back to Lantrig with tin box and letter.

9 am: Arrives at Lantrig

2-3 pm: Attends the inquest into the wreck at the Lugger Inn, Polkimbra.

Evening: Colliver looks in at the window of Lantrig as a warning.

October 13am: Leaves Lantrig for the Lugger Inn and Dr Loveday at Lizard Town. Lantrig houses the bodies of Margery and Ezekiel Trenoweth. Ezekiel’s Journal is discovered but does not contain the final clue to the treasure. Jasper goes to live with Dr Loveday and Tom Loveday at Lizard Town.

1862, December: Dr Loveday dies. Jasper and Tom depart for training at Guy’s Hospital, London.

1863, May 9: Jasper and Tom enter a gaming hall and are recognised by Ralph Colliver’s widow.

November: Mrs. Colliver meets Jasper at the theatre and informs Simon, who returns secretly.

Jasper discovers that the leading lady of the play, Clarissa Lambert, is Janet Railton, the daughter of John Railton. She commits suicide on stage.

December 21: Simon Colliver confronts Jasper with the truth about Amos Trenoweth and the ‘Great Ruby’ and leaves him for dead; although he is revived by Lucy Colliver.

December 23: Jasper follows Simon Colliver from London to Dead Man’s Rock.

December 24: Simon digs up the ‘Great Ruby’ and the treasure but goes mad on being confronted with Jasper and throws the ‘Great Ruby’ into the sea. Jasper inherits the treasure and buys back Lantrig, while Simon is confined to Bodmin asylum.
