1794: Owner of ‘Pride of Heart’ smuggling Lugger. Disappears abroad to escape from the law after the shooting of a revenue officer.
?: Meets Ralph Colliver, falls in love with his wife, and joins him in piracy. Arrives in Ceylon.
1805 April: Trenoweth and Colliver discover the ‘Great Ruby of Ceylon’ in the possession of a Buddhist priest at a temple below Adam’s Peak in Ceylon. Trenoweth murders Colliver in front of his pregnant wife and the priest, thus gaining sole possession of the treasure.
May 4: Deposits letter ‘To the son of my house’ and envelope containing £50 with Elihu Sanderson of the East India Company at Bombay, explaining the location of the ‘Great Ruby’ and associated treasure: Adam’s Peak – Dead Man’s Rock.
Returns secretly to Lantrig and buries treasure below Dead Man’s Rock.
?: Father of Amos dies.
?: Amos converted to Methodism.
1814: Amos returns to Lantrig.
Marries Philippa Triggs of Mullyon.

Leaves the Methodist meeting-house for Polkimbra church where he meets and marries Margery Freethy.
1841: November/December: Jasper born.

1845-7: Ezekiel’s business declines.
1847: Ezekiel decides to leave Lantrig for Bombay in search of wealth. Jasper 6 years old.
1848: February 3: Leaves Lantrig with Ezekiel’s will and clasped Bible.
Lodges at the ‘One & All’, Old Town Street, Plymouth.
February 4: Meets Simon Colliver, books passage on the ‘Golden Wave’ and changes lodgings to the ‘Welcome Home’, run by John and Lucy Railton.
February 6: The ‘Golden Wave’ weighs anchor for Bombay with Trenoweth, Colliver and Railton on board.
May 21: The ‘Golden Wave’ anchors at Bombay.
May 22: Disembarks a.m. and walks to East India Co. offices. Sees Colliver exiting. Elihu Sanderson, junior, produces will and Bible.

September 26: Colliver steals a piece of the ‘Golden Buckle’.
October 5: Mutiny led by Colliver and Railton.
October 11: Last entry in Journal.
October 12, 4 am: ‘Belle Fortune’ wrecked on Dead Man’s Rock.
John Railton knifes Ezekiel Trenoweth on the jib-boom with Colliver’s instrument, and seizes box.
October 13, noon: The body of Ezekiel is found at Dead Man’s Rock and carried to Lantrig. Discovery of tin box containing the journal of Ezekiel.

1841: Born to Ezekiel and Margery Trenoweth of Lantrig.
1845: Father’s business affairs deteriorate.
Learns to read and write.
1848, February 3: Ezekiel Trenoweth leaves Lantrig for Bombay.
Jasper reads Bunyan.
July/August: Receives a letter from Ezekiel at Bombay dated 23/5/48.
Sends a reply to Colombo.
1849, August: (19 months after departure of Ezekiel) writes to inform of imminent departure from Colombo aboard the ‘Belle Fortune’, with October-November as the arrival date.
October 11: Storm at Lantrig.
October 12: Mother’s premonition of disaster.
Jasper 7 years old.
7-8 am: Jasper goes from Lantrig to Ready Money Cove and Dead Man’s Rock.
Meets John Railton on Polkimbra Sands.
Railton gives Jasper a packet (Ezekiel’s) and a letter.
Colliver knifes Railton on Dead Man’s Rock but Jasper is saved by Dr Loveday.
Taken back to Lantrig with tin box and letter.
9 am: Arrives at Lantrig
2-3 pm: Attends the inquest into the wreck at the Lugger Inn, Polkimbra.
Evening: Colliver looks in at the window of Lantrig as a warning.
October 13t am: Leaves Lantrig for the Lugger Inn and Dr Loveday at Lizard Town. Lantrig houses the bodies of Margery and Ezekiel Trenoweth. Ezekiel’s Journal is discovered but does not contain the final clue to the treasure. Jasper goes to live with Dr Loveday and Tom Loveday at Lizard Town.
1862, December: Dr Loveday dies. Jasper and Tom depart for training at Guy’s Hospital, London.
1863, May 9: Jasper and Tom enter a gaming hall and are recognised by Ralph Colliver’s widow.
November: Mrs. Colliver meets Jasper at the theatre and informs Simon, who returns secretly.
Jasper discovers that the leading lady of the play, Clarissa Lambert, is Janet Railton, the daughter of John Railton. She commits suicide on stage.
December 21: Simon Colliver confronts Jasper with the truth about Amos Trenoweth and the ‘Great Ruby’ and leaves him for dead; although he is revived by Lucy Colliver.
December 23: Jasper follows Simon Colliver from London to Dead Man’s Rock.
December 24: Simon digs up the ‘Great Ruby’ and the treasure but goes mad on being confronted with Jasper and throws the ‘Great Ruby’ into the sea. Jasper inherits the treasure and buys back Lantrig, while Simon is confined to Bodmin asylum.
